This statue of Igunnuko can be seen at Igbo Igunnu, Bariga, Lagos - Nigeria.
Igunnuko is traditionally of Nupe origin but has become a part and parcel of Yoruba heritage. It is believed that the masquerade was brought to Lagos in the early 1800s by a certain Yaisa Ayani. Of the many features of Igunnuko, its height and colour stand it aside.
